Mirador Iberico (Vino de la Tierra)

IMG_2395

Mirador Iberico, meaning the “Iberian Viewpoint,” was a project we started several years ago with our close friend and oenologist Carlos Rodriguez. The idea behind this project was born out of continued economic struggles, and the purpose was to create the highest quality wine from Spain that we could be certain would retail for under $12 to the end consumer. After a visit to the U.S. in 2008, and after tasting other Spanish wines that retail at a similar price point price, Carlos was positive he could create such a wine.

Mirador Iberico is produced from vines thriving under the warm Spanish sun, where the climate and terroir has a Mediterranean influence. The warmer, drier climate and alluvial soils produce wines that are rustic and intense in color, and are the perfect accompaniment to grilled meats, hard and soft cheeses, as well as roasted or grilled vegetables.

Whether you’ve had the opportunity to visit the amazing country of Spain or not, we hope that this wine will give you, the consumer, your very own “Mirador Iberico.”

Carlos, a native of Navarra, has an amazing wealth of knowledge about wine, viticulture, oenology, and the entire scope of the world of wine. When he isn’t out in the field checking the vines or tasting hundreds of barrels at the bodega, he is working on completing his thesis on Spain’s native varieties, a culmination of years of work identifying DNA of native varieties around Spain and striving to restore them.
