Alana-Tokaj

Alana VineyardBeing based out of Salt Lake City, many people who visit us here are quite surprised by the gastronomy, wine selections, and award winning local Breweries that are available in Utah. This is due in part to the wonderful mix of heritage and cultures that Utah enjoys. From Mexicans and South Americans, Greeks and Italians, Pacific Islander and a myriad of Europeans, we are spoiled with the many restaurant options we have when considering a night out. This rich culture is actually how we stumbled upon Alana- Tokaj. Well, actually it was more like Alana-Tokaj stumbling up on P.R. Grisley!

The husband and wife duo promoting Alana-Tokaj wines for the US market both work in the medical field and just so happened to live in Salt Lake. Andras left his native Hungary where his family owns and produces Tokaji wines to pursue a medical profession in the US and actually found much more, his wife Alison, while both were in training. In addition to their common love of medicine, they also discovered a mutual passion for wine! Alison’s father shared his love of wine with her while growing up, and it was only natural that she and Andras would bond over wine.

Eager to export the family’s wines, Andras looked to local importers in hopes of finding someone that shared his passion and understanding of these unique Hungarian wines. He came across our name and contacted us to see if there was any opportunity to import their incredible wine. Once we experienced the wines, we knew they were something special and would be a wonderful compliment to our niche portfolio.
